IL FAUNO
THE FAUN
IL FAUNO (the Faun) composed of two bedrooms with private bathroom is called after the keystone of the entrance which represents a faunus, looking at the same time serious and impish. On the ground floor, a large living with a chimney welcomes all our visitors and is the perfect place for reading, watching some programs on TV or listening to the music.
In the apartment, several objects remind us of the faun, mythological creature half-human, half-animal, which is immortalized inside on engravings, in the form of statue and on paintings.
In the common room, a tabernacle in polychrome wood and a table both from the 15th century suggest the Virgin Mary with a red coat. The long table is ideal for the breakfast of our visitors. During fresh evenings, the chimney offers nice occasions to taste good wines from Tuscany.
You can also contemplate a collection of maps of the world, from 15 to 18th centuries, hung in the stairs going to the first floor.
The north facing bedroom, is calm and hosts an exhibit of carnival masks on the walls. Edicts related to Carnival cover the rest of the walls. The vast bathroom has two sinks, a spacious shower, and a bathtub from the Belle epoque.
The faun's bedroom is south facing and presents on the bed drawings of impertinent fauns that bother Venus by their jokes. In the smaller but handsome bathroom, you can admire a mosaics. Above the comfortable bed, a headboard made of a wooden fireplace.
